TV and British Judges

I don't watch much TV but every show seems to have at least one, usually two arrogant, know it all British judges. Simon Crowl was enough. Use American people. I have many British friends that are not that way. IMO

Liz Talley's Performance Schedule

Hope everyone is surviving the gas prices & the heat! I've been running all over TX the last 2 wks & feeling the pain of both. July 3rd I went to the Grand Opening of XM Radio/Willies Place in Carls Corner. The studio is beautiful & I had a blast schmoozing & taking in all the great music! July 5th I was in Brady for a benefit for fiddle player Kelly Spinks & his band. They hit a cow on the way home from a gig in Fredericksburg & were all seriously hurt. They lost everything when the truck/trailer went up in flames. Those boys had a guardian angel with them that night! We wish them well as they recover.

Last Sat I played the Cameron Opry & then on to Cowboy Church in Pearland

Sun. Now we're in another week already! This Thurs (July 17th) I'll be at the Brenham Opry @ Silver Wings Ballroom@ 7pm. Friday--Chet & I will be @ Gabbys /Shepherd from 6:30-9:30 pm.

Next Fri (July 25th) Chet & I will be @ Gabbys/Pasadena from 6:30-9:30 pm.

Sat (July 26th)--the band plays a public dance @ VFW in Cleveland from 8-12pm. Mark your calendars for Sun (July 27th) for the Musicians Reunion @ Lone Star Saloon. Great fun! Every picker in town is there. Come see us somewhere....Liz

River Road Boys Christmas Ball

We would like to announce that tickets for this year's River Road Boys Christmas Ball will be on sale starting July 26. This year's Christmas Ball will be held Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Navasota VFW Hall. The address is 1575 W. Washington (State Hwy. 105 West) in Navasota, Texas. We'll be playing at our monthly dance at the K-C Hall, 607 E.Whitney Dr. on Saturday night, July 19, starting at 7:30p.m. Please make plans to come out for some good two-steppin' music with a waltz and polka thrown in now and then.

Pray For Little Jimmy Dickens

Dear Musicians,

Tonight Jim Ed Brown requested I ask you all to pray for Little Jimmy Dickens. Jimmy is in the hospital and really needs our prayers. His weight is very low, so pray that his appetite increases dramatically. I don't know what his condition is except to say it is serious.

Also pray for wisdom for the doctors and medical staff to be able to discover the problem and how to treat it.

Greetings to all our fans,

As you well know, sometimes circumstances occur that cause changes, and The River Road Boys are certainly no exception. This press release is to quell any rumors circulating that The River Road Boys might be breaking up.

We are NOT breaking up!

Many of you already know that our fine bass player, Harlan Kubos, left recently to play with his brother, Dennis Kubos, in the Bobby Flores band. Though we hated to lose Harlan, we wish him continued success in whatever he does in his music career. Shelly Alley has replaced Harlan on bass and is doing an outstanding job at it.

Herb Remington, our legendary steel guitarist for the last several years, has decided to play full-time for the "Always, Patsy Cline" stage play here in Houston at Stages Repertory Theater. Though we will miss him and his great steel playing, we wish him all the success and hope the play has a long and successful run.

We are proud to welcome back to The River Road Boys, Ralph "Dusty" Stewart, who was our first full-time steel guitar player, joining us in the 70's and was with us for 14 years. Dusty's career spans from his early years with the legendary Hank Thompson and the Brazos Valley Boys as well as his tenure with Hoyle Nix and his great band in Big Spring, Texas. He has recently been playing the last several years with the Liberty Opry. Dusty is a perfect fit for our band and will fall right in without a hitch. Dusty is also an inductee into the Sacramento Western Swing Society Hall of Fame and we are certain he will be inducted into many others before long. He resides in Dickinson with his wife, Ginny and we are glad he is back.

We hope to see all of you at any of our upcoming events to welcome Dusty back into the band.

Finally, we wish you all a safe and happy Fourth of July!
