Country Bassist Looking (Houston)

Do You need a Bass Player?

I'm a country bassist looking for an ESTABLISHED Texas Country/ Top 40, cover/original band. Not looking for up and coming projects. I've been playing country bass for over 10 years and have had the privilege of sharing the stage with some very talented musicians. Just looking to keep the dream alive. I play bass, rhythm guitar, drums, lead and harmony vox. Thanks in advance.

Independent music artists now have a much easier time distributing their songs without the need for a contract with a big music label. They can do everything digitally instead if they so wish; selling directly to customers or through one of the online portals for such sales. But what if they want to sell phyiscal [...]

Fire House Music Store Tomball

Tomball has a full service music store. Check out the website and the store. This is the first time Tomball has had a band rehearsal facility. These people are professionals. They rent sound and lights systems as big or as small as you need. They also have expert repair service. They do consignments. We need this store. Our support is very important. Our local music community isn't very organized but on this we need to join together and support the store. Jesse

Hey Open Mic Players & Bands (Magnolia/Plantersville)

Good place to fine tune your talent. Many of todays pro's came out to our ChipKickkers Jam during the 80's/90's. Jesse

Hi everyone,

I have been asked to host an open mic every Sunday afternoon at Gilley's (Henry's Hideout). I know location is important especially considering this is so far north compared to where we used to hold our meetings when I first founded the NHMMG group two years ago.

It's actually simple to find. Using FM 1960 & Hwy 249 as a starting point reference:

Go North on Hwy 249 toward Magnolia, TX. When you reach Hwy 149 cutoff stay on the main road as it changes to FM 1774 (Do not take the 149/249 turnoff). Stay on FM 1774 to Magnolia.

At the light in Magnolia turn right, go over the tracks and take an immediate left as FM 1774 continues on the other side of the tracks. Then just continue on and HENRY's HIDEOUT will be on the right side about 3 or 4 miles down the road

Henry's Hideout & Gilley's Roadhouse "The Horniest Place in Texas"
FM 1774
Plantersville, TX
281-356-4222

You will not be playing in the front bar, which is Henry's, you would be playing in GILLEY's room. This is a huge room with a stage and a KILLER sound system and monitor system. The room can hold hundreds of people with a giant dancefloor.

Yes, it is what it sounds like. This room is managed by Keith Gilley, the son of Country music's MICKEY GILLEY. I think Mickey will be there this Friday night... They have live bands here every Friday and Saturday night so you would be auditioning if it is somewhere you may want to play. It is not limited to country music. Rock is highly encouraged. They love classic rock as well if you are a cover musician/band. I know they take solo, duets, etc., as well.

MY QUESTION TO YOU !!!

Would you be interested in playing open mic here where you want to audition for a gig or not? I told Keith I would feel out the group as it is so far north. If we can get at least 4-6 acts like we used to have on our weekly gigs, it would justify running the open mic every Sunday afternoon.

REPLY ASAP !!!

Reply here, call, or send me an e-mail at: txbackroads@hotmail.com

I will also post this on my Houston Open Mic group on MySpace if you want to reply there. Many of you are already members there as well ---> (For Houston Area Artists Only) If you aren't a member... join!

www.myspace.com/houstonopenmic

Some of you I will contact directly as I know your band is good enough to open for Keith Gilley's band or any other band playing there ...

Hope to hear from you soon. As soon a I get replies I will set a date and let everyone know when the first gig begins...

Look forward to hearing from you !!!
