A friend in need

Hi fans,
Please join The River Road Boys in helping our friend, Mary Marshall, in her time of dire need. We received the following e-mail from Western Swing Prayer Network prayer leader, Rhonda Craig, this morning:

Good Monday morning friends,
The following is co-written by Mary Jo Glasson and me. Hopefully we’ll be able to find a picture of Mary soon and I will send it along later.
Please share this email with all our western swing friends and those of you who are Facebook savvy (That’s sure not me) can post it there too…just get the word out please.

You are invited to:
House Warming/Shower for Mary Marshall
Friday October 1

We (Mary Jo Glasson and Rhonda Craig) have been trying ever since we got the tragic news about Mary Marshall’s home burning down to think of what we could do as a western swing family that would help her….and we have come up with a plan:
A House Warming/ Shower.
Insurance will cover a lot, but there are tons of things that can’t and won’t be covered and tons of things she needs right now. We all know how Insurance Companies drag their feet! Mary is starting from scratch to replace everything: sheets, towels, dishes, clothes, etc while doing everything in her power to keep her promise to Doyle. Before he passed away he told Mary, “If anything ever happens to me, make sure "Drew", (the grandson), is cared for and has a home. Mary has had a tough row to hoe since Doyle’s death. But the fire has to have been the straw that has come close to breaking her back. Her daughter Deanna and 5 year old Autistic Grandson live with her so they, too, have lost their home.

The House Warming/ Shower:
(This is where we come into the picture)
We hope to shower Mary with gift cards and cash so she can replenish her cupboards, clothes, household items, utensils, furniture etc…everything that helps make a house a home.
Shopping for these items in Nashville AR (Where she lives) is limited to Wal-Mart, Target, JC Penny and Lowe's. We hope you will purchase a gift card from any of these stores in your local area and send it to Mary at her mother’s address:

Mary Marshall
P.O. Box 1523
Nashville, AR. 71852

If sending cash, or check is your preference, that would be wonderful as well because it is Mary’s hope to rebuild a "Rustic" Western type home. Those local stores do not carry western theme items etc, so she can use the cash (or check) to purchase what she needs for her new home whenever it eventually becomes a reality.
No matter how small or large your gift, it doesn’t matter, because collectively it will add up to a wonderful gift. Our hope is that this shower of gifts and love will launch Mary from her temporary home on “Down Street” to a permanent home on “Up Street”.
I know this Western Swing family will embrace Mary with our love and support.
What a way to say “Thank you, Mary, for always making sure our favorite bands sound sharp and clear, regardless of the acoustics.”
Our target date for these showers to start pouring into Mary’s mailbox is Friday, October 1. That’s when bills typically arrive and are due momentarily but we hope Mary’s mailbox will become full of surprise gifts of love. (You only have 5 days so don’t delay!)
Please Read “Getting to know Mary Marshall” below.
Western Swing family…you are the best!
Much love
Mary Jo Glasson and Rhonda Craig

Getting to Know Mary Marshall:
In 1975, Mary Marshall’s late husband, Doyle Marshall, started the Marshall Sound business, in Nashville, AR. He provided sound for some of the great legends.  He and Mary met and spent 27 1/2 years of bliss.  Mary never really understood why Doyle was so insistent that Mary learn the business but she is so thankful for that knowledge now.

Anyone who has every met Mary and Doyle Marshall instantly became their friend.

Doyle passed away on October 21, 2007 and the outpouring of love and tributes from friends and the Music industry was astounding.

Mary has continued Doyle's dream providing sound for "Legends of Western Swing," Wichita Falls, TX; Western Swing Festival, Canton, TX, Snyder West Texas Western Swing Festival, Snyder, TX; SCBC South Central Bluegrass Lake Murray, Ardmore, OK; SLP Bluegrass, Grapeland, TX; Spring Creek Bluegrass, Bellville, TX; the Gospel Show, Cropland TX; Hugo Bluegrass, Hugo Ok; she also did the sound for Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium, Ruidoso, NM for 14 years.

There have been many "Legends of Western Swing" that enjoyed the great works of Marshall Sound. Listed here are a few:

Leon Rausch and the Texas Playboys, (they did one show with Bob Wills Original Texas Playboys under the direction of Leon McAuliffe).Hank Thompson, Frenchie Burke, Johnny Bush, Gene Watson, Asleep at the Wheel, Lynn Anderson, Graham Brothers, Tommy Alverson, Jody Nix, Jake Hooker &
The Outsiders, Bobby Flores, Ricky Boen, Ted Scanlon and the Desperados, River Road Boys, Dave Alexander, Lone Star Troubadours, John England, Amber Digby, Billy Mata, Hot Club of Cowtown, Kings of Swing, Quebe Sisters, Leroy Vandyke, Eddie McAlvain and many others.

The RRB's comment:
Plus, we cannot overlook all the family heirlooms, memorabilia and personal family photos, documents, etc. that was lost in the fire and can never be replaced.
May God's blessings be poured out to the Marshall family and to you for helping.
Thank you,

The River Road Boys
